HI Y’ALL! WE’RE ADAM, KATHRYN & KONA!
We’re an adventurous married couple (+ pup!) living in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, plus traveling around the US and world in search of the best road trips, epic hiking trails, local eats, & unique experiences. Neither of us grew up traveling very much, but after starting to date in 2012 (and getting married in 2014!), we discovered a love of exploring new places, being outdoors and camping, and expanding our comfort zone.
Here’s a quick rundown of our story!
2016-2019
Up until 2016 we lived in Austin, Texas and knew we wanted a change. After a well timed job layoff (the biggest blessing in disguise!), we packed up all of our belongings and moved across the country to Seattle, which was the best decision we ever made. Living in Seattle felt like a nonstop vacation and made us crave even more adventure, which led us to the decision to convert a Sprinter Van into a home on wheels and travel full time!
2019-2026
For over 6 years we lived and traveled full time in our van! Along the way we visited all 50 states, including biking across one of them, checked off over 50 US national parks, explored 5 Canadian Provinces and 2 Canadian Territories, and drove up to the Arctic Ocean. Plus we flew to 18 countries!
2026-Now
In March 2026 we moved back to Washington and decided to switch from full time van life to part time van life. But the adventures aren’t over! We are excited to explore our backyard, take the van on road trips out west, and continue to experience new places around the world. All while having a bit more stability, community, and a stationary place to call home.
We believe that travel doesn’t have to be crazy expensive, take tons of vacation days, or even be far from home. We hope we can inspire you to visit new places, both close by and far away!

We love to hike, backpack, visit beaches, lakes, rivers, and hot springs, learn history, explore new cities, and try local foods! Read our destination guides to learn our favorite spots and eats from the places we have visited.

There are too many to count! Our summer in Alaska was absolutely epic and our six weeks in Vietnam was easily one of the most memorable and meaningful trips we have been on. We also LOVE Hawaii and have been to the islands six times!
FAVORITE TRAVEL MEMORIES
Cycling 500 miles across the state of Iowa, riding motorbikes in Vietnam, hiking the Dolomites, and driving our van up to the Arctic Ocean, just to name a few!
TRAVEL BUCKET LIST
We are determined to visit every US National Park. 52 down, 11 to go! We’ve even written about some of our favorite parks like Glacier, Yosemite, and Olympic in our national park travel guides!
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How did you meet?
We met working at a burger restaurant called Mighty Fine in Austin, TX in 2011. It was Kathryn’s first day of work and our manager introduced us to each other. We were friends for about a year and then started dating in May 2012 and got married on October 12, 2014!
How do you afford to travel?
As of June 25, 2021, we are full time travel content creators! Kathryn quit her full time corporate job to fully invest my time in maintaining and growing Adventures of A+K.
Adam manages our website, drafts our blog posts, and puts music to our videos among many other tasks. We are both fully invested in Adventures of A+K and spend the majority of our time working on this business we have built.

What type of dog is Kona?
Kona is a Pit, Jack Russell, Dachshund mix (so we think!). We adopted her from Austin Pets Alive! in December 2013. She’s a HUGE handful, but we love her with all of our heart! Learn more about Kona and our tips for traveling with a dog here.
What are the best and worst things about vanlife?

Meet our team
Tori – virtual assistant
Tori is our virtual assistant and helps us with a wide variety of tasks, including writing, updating old blog posts, creating eBooks, managing our Pinterest, and so much more!
She lives in Nashville, Tennessee with her husband and two daughters. They love to travel as much as possible throughout the year, around a 9-5 schedule and with babies in tow! When she isn’t working with us, she also runs her own travel blog, Tori Pines Travels.
Nicoll – writer
Nicoll is a part time writer for Adventures of A+K. Using our personal tips and insight, she helps us tackle our never ending content list by writing detailed travel guides.
After traveling full time for six years, she is now a mountain-loving mama living in Colorado with her husband Jake, their sweet baby girl Teagan, and their pup Gunner. She loves hiking, riding her dirt bike, and finding joy in the little things.
